23.11.2023 - Our Climate Displacement event - one week to go!

Dear supporter,

What impact will the climate crisis have on global displacement – and what can our community do to help?

Join us at 8pm next Thursday (30th November) for a discussion of these important questions, at our ‘Climate change – the next catalyst for global displacement?‘ online event.

We’re co-hosting the session with EcoJudaism for the opening day of the COP 28 climate summit – and have a range of expert speakers on our panel!

With no current legal definitions of a ‘climate refugee’, and those forced to move by climate not covered by the 1951 Refugee Convention, it’s clear that the current lack of protections will have major consequences.

We’ll hear from

  • Professor David Cantor, Director of the Refugee Law Initiative
  • Noah Gottschalk, Senior Director, International Jewish Community Relations and International Advocacy, HIAS
  • David Mason, Executive Director, HIAS+JCORE
  • Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, Co-Founder of EcoJudaism and Senior Rabbi of Masorti Judaism

Want to find out more? Register and join us at the event on Thursday 30th November, 8-9pm.

We look forward to seeing you at the event,

The HIAS+JCORE team
