We are shocked and heartbroken by yesterday’s (02.10.2025) horrific attack in Manchester. Our hearts go out to the Jewish community in Manchester and all those affected at this incredibly difficult time – may the memory of those killed be for a blessing. We desperately hope that those injured make a full recovery.
The rise of antisemitism in the UK is deeply troubling. We are sadly seeing this more and more through our work, and it is vital that the authorities continue to take our community’s concerns seriously. Amidst our grief, we recognise too that this is sadly part of a global trend, with hate and division spreading worldwide.
Yet we also take great strength from the many touching messages of condolence and support we received yesterday from faith and community leaders. This solidarity means so much. We know that our collective humanity is far more powerful than those who seek to spread fear.
We are still learning the facts from yesterday, but one thing is certain: we cannot allow this terrible day to divide us. We are more determined than ever to continue our work toward a welcoming, compassionate Britain. At this critical juncture, we must stand together against those who seek to fracture our communities and society.
Our country and community have come through many difficult moments before. And while this is a painful time, we are confident that we can come through it together too. As we move from Yom Kippur to Sukkot, may we continue to find strength in the values of love, compassion, and understanding – holding ourselves and each other in them.
