Compassion into action for Refugee Week 2023

HIAS+JCORE’s Executive Director David Mason was delighted to put compassion into action today at West London Synagogue’s asylum drop-in, helping arrange the distribution of 600 hygiene packs. The packs were kindly donated by Amazon and will be given to asylum seekers facing destitution.

West London Synagogue’s asylum drop-in supports 500 of London’s most vulnerable children, who are part of families who are living in destitution while seeking asylum. The monthly drop-in provides practical support through donating items like supermarket vouchers, toiletries and food, alongside offering a space for friendship.

Nic Schlagman, Head of Social Action at West London Synagogue, said: “A really big thank you to the team at Amazon and HIAS+JCORE. These hygiene packs are going be hugely useful to us and the families who struggle while they’re here to keep feed and to keep their heads above water.”

David Mason, Executive Director at HIAS+JCORE said: “Thank you so much to Amazon for your kind donation. It’s been great to link with West London Synagogue and support your fantastic work. We want to bring even more members of the Jewish Community, across the community, to help more refugees.”
